The SW Wash. high school stages are busy, busy, busy. In addition to those we listed in last weeks post here are two more high school shows to put on your radar:

• Hockinson High School Theatre Company will present "Once Upon a Mattress" (the musical-comedy re-telling of the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea"): 7 p.m. May 8-10 and 15-17 at the high school. Tickets are $10 general, $8 for seniors, students, and youth (11 and under). 360-448-6450 x 5519.
• Longview's R.A. Long and Mark Morris high schools combine as Dana Brown Mainstage Theatre to present "The Love of Three Oranges" a play by Hillary DePiano. The play runs May 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. on May 17 at R.A. Long High School, 2903 Nichols, Longview, Wash. Tickets: $5 all seats (available at the door). For $5 extra, VIP tickets (reserved seating and snacks during intermission) may be purchased by calling 360.575.7133 in advance or at the door. The play is rated PG. Local High School's Shake it Out with the Bard

Students at the Portland Playhouse Fall Festival of Shakespeare.

Several Vancouver area high schools to participate in the Portland Playhouse Fall Festival of Shakespeare with groups form Portland high schools at the Dolores Winningstad Theater. These include Hokinson, Ridgefield and Fort Vancouver high schools.

Ridgefield will perform "Romeo and Juliet" at 2 p.m., Saturday; Fort Vancouver will perform "A Midsummer Night's Dream at noon, Sunday; Hockinson will perform "A Comedy of Errors" at 5 p.m., Sunday. Hockinson will also offer performances at the high school 7 p.m., Nov. 7, 8 and 9.

Now This is Interesting: "Lord of the Flies" with a Female Cast

Union High School Theatre will present the play "Lord of the Flies" (stage adaption of the often assigned reading William Golding novel) with two different casts--one all male, one all female--playing different nights.

In the novel a group of boys find themselves stranded on a deserted island where they must try to create a society of their own. As they endeavor to govern themselves they must deal with the fear and paranoia that overcome them.

7 p.m., May 9-11, 17 and 18 at Union High School Performing Arts Center, 6201 MW Friberg St., Camas, Wash. Tickets $10, $7 for students and seniors. Call 360-604-6250 for tickets and information.

The Hockinson High School Drama Club presents "How to Succeed at Business Without Really Trying" 7 p.m., May, 3, 4, and 9-11 and 1:30 p.m., May 4. The musical, set in the 1960's follows an ambitious man who rises from a job washing windows to a company's chairman of the board.
